Glass piece to be etched*

Ready-made Glass etching stencil or supplies to make your own (Stencil/design, adhesive backed vinyl like contact paper)

Rubbing Alcohol
X-acto Knife with Swivel blade ( if you are making your own stencil)

*NOTE: Always test the glass to see if glass etching is possible.

INSTRUCTIONS
Clean and dry the glass piece. Wipe the area to be etched with rubbing alcohol.

Use a ready-made glass etching stencil or create your own by sketching a design on adhesive-backed vinyl (contact paper). Position on glass and adhere.

Remove the areas on the vinyl stencil of the design to be etched. The exposed areas will be etched.

Place painter’s tape around the edges of the designs for added protection. This creates a barrier so that etching creme does not go onto the glass areas that you do not want etched.

Pour etching creme onto the design, following manufacturer’s directions. Avoid spreading the creme back and forth for a cleaner etch design.

Wait 15 minutes as directed.

Scrape off the etching creme and place back into jar.

NOTE: Etchall Etching creme can be re-used.

Rinse off excess creme under running water or submerse the piece in a container of water. Keeping the piece surrounded by moving water helps prevent etching crème residue from dripping onto an area that you do not want etched.

While the piece is under water, peel off the stencil and painter’s tape. Rinse clean.

Dry the glass piece. Use rubbing alcohol to remove any adhesive residue.
